Fender Japan 1st Edition Telecaster '52 'Micawber' MIJ FujiGen Built 1990
Here is a very rare (and very clean!) late 1980’s Fender Japan FujiGen built Micawber Telecaster. It’s an MIJ K-Serial (1990-91 no pencil date on this one) and was built for Fender at the renowned FujiGen plantin Japan. It’s a 1952 reissue with great sounding factory installed Dragster humbucker in the neck based on Keith Richards ‘Micawber’ Tele. All FujiGen factory spec. It has really cool looking faded butterscotch blonde finish, which is darkening nicely and getting that patchy uneven look. It has a white ash body, with a maple neck and fingerboard with a 7.25 radius. The bridge pick-up is nice and meaty sounding. The neck is dead straight, truss rod fine and plenty of life left in the frets. Structurally and electrically sound. No issues at all. No breaks, repairs or routing. It has a nice dull patina over all the metal hardware inc the brass bridge & saddles. It’s a hefty old lump like most of these white ash 80’s FujiGens and tips the scales at 4.4kg. A great playing Tele, the pickups are both outstanding and work well together, much more balanced than we usually find with these old Micawbers, it has some really nice sparkling clean tones. The factory single coil more than holds its own against the Dragster humbucker. All in all a very cool 35 year old Fender Japan Micawber. Complete with hardcase & key.
