Fender Japan Early/Mid 90's Transition Fender Stratocaster 1962 RI Sunburst MIJ

Fender Japan Early/Mid 90's Transition Fender Stratocaster 1962 RI Sunburst MIJ

£945.00Price

Very cool old grunge-era Fender FujiGen-built factory Three Tone Sunburst '62 Reissue Stratocaster. It's a bit of a rarity in that it looks like it was made in the FujiGen Gakki and given an N serial number but possibly held back or carried over to the CIJ period of manufacture and later given a CIJ prefix. We have had a few of these transition CIJ N-serials before which straddle the crossover period of FujiGen and Dyna. A pretty cool MIJ/CIJ quirk. Anyway it's probably from somewhere around the 1992-1995 period. It has a warm sunburst body and some nice subtle flame & grain on the maple neck. The neck is slightly thicker than we usually find on this model. The fingerboard is slab rosewood with a 7.25 radius. It's a really cool looking board with some defined rosewood streaking in it. It has a three-ply white pickguard. It’s a great looking and playing old Japanese warrior. The plastics have naturally yellowed, the metal hardware has taken on a cool oxidised patina and there are a couple of finish checking lines on the body. It’s well along the road to being a true vintage looker. Neck is dead straight, truss rod fine & plenty of life left in the frets. Structurally and electrically sound. No issues at all. No mods, repairs or breaks. Weight 3.5kg. Has some playwear, with some bumps and scuffs around the edges, a couple little touched in nicks. But for an early/mid 90's MIJ pretty good overall, and looks all the better for the little wear it has. Complete with non original softcase and correct replacement tremolo arm. This is a really nice old MIJ/CIJ transition Strat; a little piece of Fender Japan history.
