Fender Japan Vintage 1993 Mustang 1969 Reissue MIJ N-Serial Sonic Blue FujiGen
Up here is this really special old Fender MIJ Mustang in aged Sonic Blue (now more surf green). I like this one a lot. It’s a scarce old FujiGen built MIJ N-Serial (6 digits), built way back in 1993-94 period. There weren’t many Mustangs built during this era or even at FujiGen, most Fender Japan Mustangs you see will be later CIJs and second period MIJs from Dyna. It’s a heavily yellowed 1969 RI Sonic Blue. Being Fender Japan you know the fit and finish is going to be superb. It has all the good stuff inc. maple neck & nice dark Indian rosewood 7.25 radius fingerboard (no Pau Ferro here). Killer 3-ply red tort FujiGen pickguard. Neck is dead straight, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets. Structurally and electrically sound. No issues at all. No breaks or repairs. Weight is 3.2kg. It plays great, holds tune and is super resonant when unplugged. The selector switches are a little stiff but work fine and will probably loosen up again over time. It’s an absolute grunge machine and was built around time we lost Kurt. The is some old age related playwear and it looks all the better for it. You get natural yellowing of all the plastics and dulling of the metal hardware. There are some bumps, scratches etc but no big harsh paint chips. It’s got all the good age-related wear but nothing ugly. A great looking & playing old FujiGen-era Mustang. Comes with a threaded 5mm tremolo arm which just drops in and tightens as usual. Complete with original period correct Fender branded softcase. A cool old Mustang from Fender Japan.
