Fender Rare Mid 80's Jaguar 1966 Reissue Very Rare FujiGen MIJ E-Serial

£1,895.00Price

One of the oldest Fender Japan Jaguars you will ever see. You are looking at an MIJ E-Serial JG66 from 1984-87. We’ve been specialising in Japanese offsets for a very long time now and 1980’s Fender Jags are as rare as hen’s teeth. FujiGen didn’t start building them in any numbers until the early 90’s and even then not in great amounts, Jag production only really ramped up around the mid 90’s point and then on into the CIJ period at Tokai & Dyna. Any FujiGen Jaguar is a real find, but grabbing one with the earliest E serial near to impossible. There are a couple of differences between these and later CIJ/MIJ jags.  Firstly and most importantly is how much thinner the necks are! This one is slimmer than you will find on later Jags but it feels very natural and comfortable. Secondly this one has the ‘F’ stamped neckplate that FujiGen only put on the very earliest Jags and Jazzmasters. Otherwise it’s got all the good stuff: alder body, maple neck & great dark vintage looking rosewood fingerboard and 7.25 neck radius. It has its original 3-ply FujiGen tortoiseshell pickguard and all black plastics save for the pick up covers. It is in exceptional condition for such an old Jag. There are no paint chips and just light playwear. The olympic white finish has now darkened to more of a vintage white. It's the best looking E Serial Jaguar or Jazzmaster we have had a GSG. Everything is factory spec, save for a barrel bridge that's been dropped in for added string stability. Otherwise no mods, repairs, routing etc. Structurally there are no issues at all. It plays & sounds great, nice action for a Jag too. Weight is 3.8kg. If you are into vintage Fender Japan guitars then grab this one now as there aren’t many E-serial FujiGen Jags out there and I can’t see this being in the shop very long. On the rare occasions they do show up it is never in this condition. Complete with replacement black tipped tremolo arm & heavy duty softcase.
