Gibson Custom Shop 2016 Derrig Burst 1959 Les Paul Standard Historic Reissue R9
Forget all the mass produced Gibson Slash AFD signatures out there. This Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Historic Reissue Les Paul Standard has gotta be the closest I have ever seen to Kris Derrig's iconic AFD Les Paul. It was not a signature model and was built in 2016 at Gibson's Nashville Custom Shop but looks closer than any denature model I have seen. It's had a few subtle updates to bring it even closer to the original Derrig Burst. It's had great sounding Seymour Duncan APH Zebras dropped in and the knobs have also been changed to match Slash's Iconic burst. Aside from the uncanny looks, the guitar itself is a real beauty. It has the exact colour tone and the closest maple figuring I have seen to the AFD. It has all the Custom Shop appointments you'd expect. The neck is a nice comfy '59 profile carve with a long tendon and an overall great balance and resonance to the guitar. Weight is nice and light, a whisker under 4kg. Has a beautiful dark vintage aged rosewood fingerboard and still fret end binding. Nice and light at 3.9kg. Obviously no issues at all, no breaks, repairs or modifications. Like Slash's guitar, the pickguard was once fitted but has been removed. It is included. There is some playwear with a little bucklerash on the back and a few scratches etc. It has some fine lacquer checking on the top too which looks pretty cool. Comes complete with certificate of authenticity booklet bearing the guitar's serial number and original historic pink velvet crush lined Lifton reissue hard shell case with key. Case has a few scrapes etc. We carefully hand-select all our Custom Shop reissues for rare and exceptional tops like this. We only choose the very best tops to put in our shop.
